Summer Plans

Headphones for listening

In my great quest to discover what to do next, my great editor and partner mentioned that I was lacking more in readers than in content, so perhaps I should spend my time focusing there… He’s right.

So here’s my summer plan, since July has already struck. I’m going back to polish the first three readings. They are the first, so they will be listened to more. Since they were my first readings, I don’t feel they were my best, and if they aren’t as good, then my chances of gaining a readership won’t be great. So this weekend I’m re-recording the audio of those readings with a better microphone. I’ll be adding ambient noises to them to fill the sound it a little better. And I’m also going out for a walk tomorrow to record walking footage for the readings, as I think listening to the story while hiking is a much more interesting format to the visual YouTube fans. I’m hoping that two grueling hot years playing flute runs while “marching” across a gopher holed field will help me learn steady the camera (phone).

After I nail those first few logs, and I reordered the first three paragraphs on “Day 3” to start it off leaping, I’m going to begin advertising in earnest, while researching the world of podcast (which may just require me asking my partner, who works for a radio station “what good podcasting sites are out there?”).

With advertising underway, and knowing the first three Raven Logs are the best I can do, I will then muddle through the process of editing and posting new content. So sit tight my one or two fans, new material will come out soon (as there is literally 150 pages of first draft material that not even the sun has seen the light of yet).

Wrapping up the Videos

I’m finishing up the last of the Raven videos this week. I’ve delayed posting the last one, “Day 27 - My Eyes are Different” because I wanted to get the right footage. I came up with a visibly more appealing format, but I don’t think I’ll have time to execute it this weekend.

For the next few weeks, I’m putting the progress of the written story on hold to launch Travel Log of a Raven up onto YouTube.

Expanding into YouTube and Facebook Video!

Travel Log of a Raven is back in action! I’m rolling out a series of new material in the coming weeks.

First off, I’m expanding the story into the realm of YouTube and Facebook. Hurray, for those who want to hear my amateur acting voice… For those of you who missed it, I streamed my first reading this weekend on Facebook (YouTube had technical issues…) After slight edits, including the removal of 5 minutes of music that streamed horribly, those episodes will nest permanently on YouTube (and Facebook) for your listening pleasure whenever you want… I may also venture into the land of iTunes and Podcasts, but at a later date.

Secondly, for those interested in the progression of the story, a couple more written episodes will be posted in the coming weeks as well. With my editor’s blessing, I’m hoping to get the next segment posted next weekend….

I’m striving to bring you something new every weekend. New video segments and written works will be weaved together over the course of the next few weeks--I only have so much time-- until both the video and the written segments have caught up with each other. Once that happens, and as Spring comes to a close, I’ll be launching into advertising mode, which may mean fewer new things for you, but hey…. What can I say… I’m running a one gal show here… We’ll see. Either way, I’m back in action!
